Taking the Mela experience to a digital level, we will be producing an exciting TV Channel made by young adults.
Mela TV is a pop-up digital station, made by young producers and directors from Derby University’s BA Media Production course.
Taking inspiration from Shaanti TV, a pioneering project shortlisted for a Royal Society Television Award in Entertainment and The Midland Media Award (Finalist, Entertainment Category). Shaanti.TV www.shaanti.tv was an innovative project that provided opportunities to young people to gain experience, knowledge, and understanding of themselves, each other and the environment, while volunteering in the Eastern Electronic Festival in 2014 (supported by the Arts Council).
Mela TV will played a critical role in the production of new teaching materials as well as the introduction of new communication technologies, in particular the development of digital technologies for education in a live environment to build a clear and structured pathway into the creative and cultural sector for young people.
In partnership with University of Derby, Mela TV will helped young adults build capacity in the local creative sector while, giving young people much needed employment opportunities.
